Description of Electrical/Electrode steam boiler
ASCENT Electrical/Electrode steam boiler is a compact, versatile, electrical, fully Automatic with high thermal efficiency. All industrial boilers are fabricated according to modern Engineering Practice. Exclusive design which ensures quick removal of heater & user friendly. Extremely stringent quality control during various stages of manufacturing, Hydraulic tests, individual assembly tests and complete inspection of boilers on completion provides trouble free operation and longer life.
Electrical/Electrode Boiler Working Principle
Electrode Steam Boilers are functionally designed to give a stable supply of Dry steam under fluctuating loads, is fully automatic with additional provision for manual operation and produces steam within a very short time of cold start.
WORKING PRINCIPLE & CONSTRUCTION: – Resistance is developed in between Electrodes to generate heat. In case if TDS is inadequate to develop adequate resistance as desired then in that case Non scaling additives are to be added. If water is very hard then in that case partial Demineralization will be necessary. Steam capacity will be as per water quality.
This steam boiler needs insignificant erection since it comes factory assembled with its own base frame. Only three phase Electrical connection in the main control panel box with appropriate separate earthing and inlet water connection to feed pump is necessary to operate the electrical steam boilers.
STEAM CHAMBER: -This chamber comprises a shell fabricated from Steel plates of required thickness. It is duly insulated with glass wool and cladded with Aluminium sheets to minimise radiation losses. Electrodes electrically isolated with the main body are positioned horizontally.
FEED PUMP MOTOR AND MAIN BASE FRAME: – It comprises a positive displacement type piston pump combined with suitable motor and mounted on the main base frame. Main Boiler and control panel are also mounted on the same frame.
INSTRUMENTATION & AUTOMATIC SYSTEM: –
- PRESSURE SWITCH: With steam pressure built up at anticipated pressure through pressure switch electric supply to electrical heater will get cut-off and vice versa with drop in pressure electric supply will be ON with signal on panel board.
- MAGNETIC WATER LEVEL CONTROLLER: With water level reaching at set high level feed water pump will mechanically stop & restart at set low level automatically with indication on panel board.
- AMS CONTROLLER: Current exceeding a set limit will cut-off electric supply mechanically with a hooter sound and can be reinstated again after resetting. Hardness can be reduced by blow down from the system.
- SAFETY VALVE: It is set slightly higher than normal working pressure and blows if the pressure exceeds.
CONTROL PANEL: – It is attached on the front side and next to the steam chamber. It is prewired and complete with contactors, main switch, fuses, O/L relays, ammeter, voltmeter, selector switch, switches for pumps, heater and indicating lamps.
PAINTING & INSULATION: – The whole unit is duly painted with heat resistant paint on the steam chamber and synthetic enamel of primer on the base frame & panel box. It is also insulated with glass wool and cladded with aluminium to avoid radiation losses.

PRESSURE PART ASSEMBLY: Shell and tube type heat exchanger with tubular banks fixed with cartridge heaters.
ELECTRICAL: An electrical control panel board complete with touch HMI, PLC, Power controller thyristor, D O L Starters, Auxiliary Contactors, Rotary Switches, Indicating Lamps, Isolator and Hooter and Combustion Safety Relay completely Pre – wired and factory tested. Electrical connections of 415 Volts, 50 Hz, 3 Phases, 4-wire supply shall be provided by the Buyer.
PIPING: The boiler block piping consists of pressure switches piping, feed water piping from pump outlet to boiler.
STRUCTURALS: The steam boiler shall be supported on skid. Different Auxiliaries shall be fixed on an under framers. Ladder and Platform, if required, shall be provided for easy access to valves and mountings on Boiler.
DATA LOGGER: For log book in PAN drive.
IBR / SIB & Non IBR: Available in fully automatic mode.
