Electrical Thermic Fluid Heater

Description of Electrical Thermic Fluid Heater

An Electric Thermic Fluid Heater is a device that uses electricity to heat a fluid (usually a thermal oil) to a desired temperature. The fluid is then used as a heat transfer medium to transfer heat to other objects or fluids in a system. This type of heating system typically uses a high temperature heating element submerged in the fluid to heat it, and may use a control system to regulate the temperature. Electrical Thermic Fluid Heaters are commonly used in industrial applications, such as chemical processing, food processing, and oil and gas production. They are often preferred over other types of heaters because they are cleaner, more efficient, and safer to operate.

Electrical Heater Working Principle

The working principle of an Electric Thermic Fluid Heater is based on the principle of indirect heating. The heater consists of a high temperature heating element that is submerged in the thermal oil. When electrical power is supplied to the heating element, it heats up and transfers the heat to the thermal oil.

The thermal oil circulates through the system, absorbing heat from the heater and then transferring that heat to the objects or fluids that need to be heated. The process is often facilitated by a pump that ensures proper circulation of the thermal oil.

A temperature control system is typically used to regulate the temperature of the thermal oil, ensuring that it does not overheat or cool down too much. This system is important to maintain the stability of the system and prevent damage to the heating element or other components.

Overall, the working principle of an Electrical Thermic Fluid Heater is based on efficient heat transfer through the use of indirect heating and circulation of thermal oil, providing a reliable and efficient heating solution for a variety of industrial applications.

List of Components

DESIGN: The main heat exchanger in the wood and coal fired thermic fluid heater with a capacity of 2500000 Kcal/hr is designed as a shell and tube type on a forced circulation principle. Specially designed 3 KW cartridge type heating elements are used to ensure optimum heat transfer rate and heat release with low surface load.

CIRCULATING PUMP: The thermic fluid circulating pump is directly coupled to a standard 3 phase electric motor and is suitable for temperatures up to 300 degrees Celsius at 3.5 Kg/cm2.

EXPANSION TANK: The expansion tank is designed to remove any liberated gas, prevent oxidation and pump cavitation. It also takes care of the expansion of the thermic fluid and accommodates its expansion. The expansion tank is complete with a level switch, gauge glass assembly, blow down valve, overflow nozzle, inlet and outlet nozzles, and a top up nozzle.

MOUNTINGS & FITTINGS:

Component Quantity
Digital Temperature Indicator-cum-Controller 1 No.
Thermostat Control 1 No.
Pressure Gauge 1 No.
Low Level Switch in Deaerator-cum-Expansion Tank 1 No.
Oil Filter at Inlet to the Pump 1 No.
Ammeter on Control Panel Board 3 Nos.
Electrical Heaters 3 KW x 72 Nos – Total Capacity 216 KW 72 Nos.

The Digital Temperature Indicator-cum-Controller is installed at the outlet line of the thermic fluid heater to measure and control the ON/OFF condition of the heater. The Thermostat Control is used to step up and step down the ON/OFF heaters. The Pressure Gauge is installed at the outlet of the TFH line to monitor the pressure. A Low Level Switch is placed in the Deaerator-cum-Expansion Tank to protect against low levels of thermic fluid resulting in the heater being turned off. An Oil Filter is also installed at the inlet to the pump to ensure that the oil used is clean. The Control Panel Board includes three Ammeters to monitor the electrical current. The heater itself includes 72 Electrical Heaters, each with a capacity of 3 KW, providing a total capacity of 216 KW.

CONTROL PANEL: The wood and coal fired thermic fluid heater is equipped with an electrical control panel board that is pre-wired and factory tested. The control panel board includes starters, auxiliary contactors, rotary switches, indicating lamps, and an isolator. The electrical connections required are 415 Volts, 50 Hz, 3 Phases, and a 4 wire supply, which should be provided by the buyer.
